With thirty five years in the motion picture business, Mr. Colby’s expertise covers, writing, producing, and directing. His career began with Francis Ford Coppola’s company, American Zoetrope as Vice President and served as an Executive or Producer on such films as HAMMET, THE RAIN PEOPLE, THE GODFATHER PART II, THE OUTSIDERS, and George Lucas’s first feature film, THX-1138, among others.  His writing caught the attention of Clint Eastwood when he adapted the cult classic novel, GOLF IN THE KINGDOM. Warner Brothers purchased Ron’s script for Eastwood’s company. For John Hughes, he served as Executive Producer on SHE’S HAVING A BABY and SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL. He produced four films for Mobil Masterpiece Theatre, “American Collection.” The final film in the series, ALMOST A WOMAN, won a Peabody Award as well as two Imagen Awards. He recently produced MATERIAL GIRLS for Maverick Entertainment.  Ron has returned to documentary filmmaking and has directed and produced three feature length documentaries. PIRATE FOR THE SEA is a biography of marine environmental activist Captain Paul Watson. Currently in Post Production is SCOTLAND’S CADDIES,   a spirited romp through the Scottish countryside and golfing meccas listening to the wit, reverence and irreverence of Scottish caddies. Completed is JONES BEACH BOYS, a personal look at 60, 70, and 80 year old ocean lifeguards living the best years of their lives.  Mr. Colby feels it is now time to turn his full attention to creating a slate of films from the writings of those whose work he admires. Artists Confederacy is the result of that desire.
